In the past 3 years or so journaling has become the best way for me to release whatever I am feeling at that moment. And whenever I am feeling anxious or have trouble sleeping (I always think WAY too much when trying to sleep) I always reach for my journal. There's something about having your feelings on paper rather than just in your head that eases my thoughts. I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't journal. Just kidding, I most definitely would not have a healthy relationship with sleep LOL. If you'd like to start journaling but have no idea where to start I have compiled a short list of tips to help you get started!
Livi's Tips To Start Your Journalling Adventure
1. Write whatever you feel in that moment. If it feels stressful to do, then you are not journaling correctly. There's no right or wrong way, simply just write.
2. Try to write in your journal every week. This way you'll get in the habit of writing!
3. Set aside extra time in your day just for yourself. And during this time is my favorite time to journal. Especially after I make myself a coffee and get comfy!
4. Don't write on the first blank page of your journal. I know it sounds odd, but just trust me and do it.
5. BE CREATIVE! This is the time to express your creativity. Go wild.
Not only can your journal be used for writing, but there are so many different creative ways you can set up your journal too. For example, in the photos above I decided to create a travel journal/diary. As a little kid, whenever I've traveled to a new place I always tried to keep some sort of memorabilia from each place. I'm so glad I did this because rather than just sitting in my desk drawer, I can showcase everything in one place. Plus, it's so much fun to put together. If you love anything crafty or scrapbooking related, you have to try this!
