How To Create Your Pinterest-Perfect Bedroom

Whenever I am aimlessly scrolling on Pinterest I always seem to stumble upon these gorgeous bedrooms that are decorated to a T. After pinning almost every picture I saw (this happens often) I started to gravitate towards a specific aesthetic. Now, I am absolutely horrible at explaining this to others, but I'll give this a go. The aesthetic that I was aiming for was mostly based around boho influences, however I also love the look of urban jungle aesthetics. If you have no clue what I'm talking about try searching "boho" and "urban jungle" in Pinterest.

I also wanted this transformation to not empty my entire bank account (my rent is already expensive as it is). Thus, fast forward to me going to every thrift store possible in my area. If you are in need of room decor I highly recommend checking out you're nearest thrift store! In the photo above, all of the picture frames are in fact thrifted, as well as the record vinyl (which was 99 cents may I add) and the wooden circular piece.

When searching for frames in the thrift store at first I was very unsuccessful. This is because I was looking for brand new frames, when in reality that is very hard to come by. I then began to look for uncommon shaped frames, in hopes that it would give the wall more dimension (rather than a plain square shape). In the photos below you can see the frame that I picked as the center piece.

Transforming the old frame and artwork into the new frame was actually easier than you think. The only supplies I used was paint that I already had. I got inspiration from Pinterest and got to work!

As for the rest of the decorations that I found for the room, I went to Homegoods and Tj-Maxx. My goal was to base the look of the bed around the painting above. As you can see, I pulled the yellow, white, tan, and burnt orange.

I hope this inspires you to re-decorate your room!

Neutrals, Neutrals, and more Neutrals!

Summer time is finally here! After being cooped up for 3 months because of COVID-19, being able to go outside feels like a godsend.

Ever since I was little I have always been putting outfits together. Some of my funnest memories (and no funnest is not a word, but I'd like to think it is LOL) are of me putting together my mom's outfits whenever she would go out to dinner. And to my surprise she would never change the outfits I'd pick. Now thinking back it could be possible she didn't want to hurt my feelings, but thankfully she assured me that wasn't the case.

For this outfit I had a specific aesthetic in my mind that I wanted to base the look off of. In my head when I think of the words "minimal chic" my mind immediately goes to neutral colors. To make this look appear minimal I tried to not add any patterns and use sleek fabrics such as satin. And by adding the brown leather bag to the outfit rather than choosing just a basic black bag I believe it brings warmth to the fit. I'm very detail oriented so when choosing between silver or gold jewelry, gold jewelry made the most sense. The gold detailing on the sunglass matches the gold bracelet, which again brings more warmth to the outfit.

My Quarantine DIY Pants

Saturday, May 2, 2020

Throughout his quarantine I have been keeping myself busy by doing countless DIY's and crafts everyday. One of my absolute favorite DIY's that I did were the pants in the photo above. Ever since I began studying fashion at Kent State University I've been learning more and more about sustainability within the fashion industry. Rather than just throwing out an old pair of jeans or donating them, next time think about how you can make them new.

For this DIY you will need:
~A garment of your choice
~Fabric Paint
~If you do not have any stencils, simply print out the shape you would like to paint and
cut the center out (you definitely do not need a stencil, it just makes it easier!)
